~WHY DO YOU BLOG?~PLEASE COMMENT

I would love to know why you chose to blog about whatever it is you blog about.  Do you like to help other bloggers out?  Do you like to help authors, meet new people, learn about new books or products?  I am just extremely curious about it all.

I have had my blog for about 3 months now and everyday I am learning something new.  I have had my Facebook page for less than a month.

Does anything offend you do you prefer certain things to be done or not done?  Do you promote other people's blogs?

What bothers you and what doesn't bother you?  Don't be afraid to speak your mind.  I respect everyone's opinions and thoughts!!!

I am like a sponge and I want to know.  I will share my other thoughts later but please comment!!  I will read them and I will respond to them.

Thank you in advance!!

Tanya

  1. I am a new blogger. I suppose I started as a way to keep my brain functioning while I am working on my first novel. It gives me a place to write and gain experience and insight from others.

I love supporting other bloggers and love to read whatever creativity others come up with. Whether people blog to rant, tell a story, or support fellow writers, I can't get enough.

I will say so far that nothing has offended me. Everyone has their way of expressing themselves and who am I to judge in what way they do so? Keep on blogging friends:)

  2. I haven’t started a blog myself, I started playing around with format once and I really do want to have one, but I have realized that I just don’t have the time right now. I would not be able to create a blog that I would be proud of, so I decided to stick to being a reader for now (and posting my opinions on goodreads of course). This way I can disappear for a couple of weeks and no one really notices. I really respect everyone who takes the time to create such amazing blogs, I know how much time and effort that takes.

Personally, I love that you offer a follow by email option, I may not come onto the actual blog but I am always aware of what is going on. As a generalization, I prefer to read blogs that come out with more content rather than promo stops on tours, etc. I may not read every review, even if it is sent to my inbox. To be quite frank I still judge books by the cover, if I don’t think that I’m going to like a book I am less likely to read a review of it. I am more likely to read a review of a book I have heard of before, or one that just has a really interesting first paragraph.

As a reader who likes email subscriptions, I will also admit to deleting a bunch of ‘stacking the shelves’, ‘waiting on Wednesday’, ‘teaser Tuesday’, and other meme posts. Sometimes I am interested in what books someone picked up, but most of the time I have nothing to say, especially since many of the books pictured aren’t going to be reviewed.

I also personally don’t care if a blogger posts every day or not. I would rather read one good post a week rather than 7 posts with nothing interesting going on. I have noticed that a lot of bloggers feel bad or apologize if they don’t have a new post every day, and to be that is a bit of an absurd standard. We all have a lot going on in our lives, and I certainly don’t expect a blogger to post everyday – you can only read so fast, and I don’t expect five reviews a week, and I would rather a blogger who loves to read take the time to participate only in memes that they enjoy, and not waste time on other posts to fill up space. I obviously really appreciate the daily free books emails that I get from you, but that is a really different type of post that can be time sensitive (and if you don’t have time to post it, I completely understand).

Other than that, I prefer to read blogs that don’t go too crazy with images or gifs, I don’t have the fastest internet in the world, or the fastest computer so I appreciate it when a blog loads quickly and doesn’t look messy (this is actually one of the reasons why I prefer email subscriptions, that way I can decide if I really need to go onto the site or if I can just deal with reading the post).

Anyway, I think at this point I have gone off topic, I hope that you eventually find the answers you are looking for!

    1. Oh Alicia, thank you so much! You have no idea how informative your post has been to me and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Thank you so much for taking the time and adding your thoughts. My main reason for blogging is because I love books and I love to share, give and help others, but I will say this, you are absolutely right it takes a lot of time! One of the reasons I got my blog mate Kim to help:0) Thanks again for stopping by!

    2. I'm happy it was useful :).

I love to read and share too, which is why I try to participate in the blogging community when I can as a reader, but I'm realistic enough to know what my schedule for at least the next year looks like and it is not blogger friendly. Maybe if I can ever find a blogging partner I will be able to have my own blog :).

I'm glad it is working out for you and Kim, I really do enjoy the posts you put up here on Kindlehooked.
